Week 7 Final Post-Reflection


Week 7: Final Blog

In the past weeks, I learned so much on how technology impacts the classroom. Teachers can use technology “to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to face and virtual environment” (Cennamo, Ross & Ertmer, 2009, p.23). In addressing diverse learners technology has shown to be very positive.  I have been teaching for five years and technology was not my focus to enhance student learning. However, through research and taking courses at Walden University it has shown me that technology lesson plan is well needed for students in the 21st century. The GAME PLAN is an acronym that I will use to guide me in my lesson plan. The plan will include: (a) set goals, (b) take action to meet the foals, (c) monitor progress toward achieving goals, and (d) evaluate whether the goals were achieved. In addition, I will extend the learning to new situations (Cennamo, Ross & Ertmer, 2009)..

I use blog in the classroom. But now, my blog has a lesson plan for my adult learners. Teaching adults requires certain conditions based on Knowles theory that is necessary for adult learning. Conditions includes: (1) an atmosphere that promote collaboration, mutual trust, and support: and (2) the idea that learners must participate in diagnosing their needs and evaluating their learning.  Students are more self-directed learners, engage, and motivated to learn new skills.

One of the technology tools impressed me as an educator is digital storytelling. The students are so engage, and collaborating with their peers. I was working with android applications but still need more information to make this a success. I was able to purchase a CD on different application that relates to maternity and women’s health. The students worked in the classroom or at home. There were times that they could do the lesson plan on their own to enhance learning.  I do need more work in summarizing the steps that the student will need in class and adding more instructional strategies.
